It appears that many people are unaware of the ability to Search for something within a group feature on the book of faces. I say that because at least once a week I see a post that causes a visceral reaction of “That’s been asked and answered a dozen times! You can look it up”

But. I don’t SAY that in the group, I just move on with my life. Sometimes the group admin is as aware of this issue as I am and DOES say something very similar. Maybe more politely but not always.

For those who are not aware of how this feature works, allow me to help –

First, go to the group where you are thinking about asking the question;

Then find the ‘search’ button for the group:

When you click that little magic-eyeing glass icon, you’ll get a new pop-up:

Where you can type in a word or phrase to search for:

Type in what you’re searching for and then click the magic-eyeing glass icon at the bottom:

Et, voila; posts in that group that have that word or phrase in them:

If you are trying to find a post that you know you’ve already seen, you can filter just to show ‘Posts You’ve Seen’. If you want help from a specific person you can filter for ‘Posted By’ and etc. You can even relegate the older stuff to the bottom by selecting ‘Most Recent’
